COAGULANTS

Coagulants are used for the destabilization of colloidal suspensions. In such suspensions, the dispersed colloidal particles curry the same electrical charge and they are of such a small size, less than 1 micron, that makes their settling, floating or filtering virtually impossible until they have first undergone coagulation.

Coagulation is a physic-chemical process in which:

  • coagulants are added to the solution and neutralize the homonymous electrical charges on the colloidal particle’s surface.
  • the destabilized particles can subsequently form aggregates called flocs, thus facilitating their sedimentation.

There are two major coagulant types, mineral coagulants and organic coagulants. They are used in many applications, such as in wastewater treatment, potable water treatment, paper industries, swimming pools etc.

Our company offers a variety of products, each with its special characteristics, ready to meet any requirement.
